Vintage Schnibbles "Hat Trick"

Presenting my scrappy version of Carrie Nelson's Vintage Schnibbles "Hat Trick" The flimsy is not yet quilted however the top is completely DONE in time for the Schnibbles Parade sponsored by Sinta and Sherri. This was a fun project. I'm looking forward to next month's Schnibbles already. I love little quilts!

At my house I have a design floor. In theory this should work perfectly well but then I have a CAT! Her name is Ms Cha Cha Cat and she adores assisting with any and all designs on the design floor!

Hmm ... Wonder What is on MY Floor?
Pretty Cool! Did She Call it CAT TRICK?
There is NO Black! I Can Fix That!

What do I Hear??!! Did She Tell Ms Cat to Get Off??!! Surely Not!
Seriously friends I would invest in a design wall if I thought it would be any better. I can imagine flying fabric as Ms Cha Cha Cat climbs the wall! It is a good thing I love this crazy cat.

Be sure to catch the Schnibbles Parade Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Just drop by to visit Sinta at Pink Pincushion and Sherri at A Quilting Life.

Whirlwind Weekend

My what a Whirlwind this weekend has been. My mom, who was expecting to have a terrible day on Saturday when she, turned 80, gave every appearance of enjoying the day. Happy Birthday, Mom!

Sunday afternoon we celebrated my grand niece's "double digit" birthday which was actually the 24th of April and my niece-in-law's 30 something birthday which was Sunday the 28th. We had hamburgers and fixings, as well as a strawberry ice cream cake and my family's famous chocolate pie. The 2 year brother of Miss Double Digits (10) says CHOCOLATE in a blissful - I am in love!!! - manner in between each and every bite. So adorable! Our very mobile 7 month old entertained everyone. He is

I managed to work in some sewing time. My Schnibbles Hat Trick is coming along. I went with a consistent background fabric to sort of "tame" all the other scrappy colors. I have the top border attached and the piano key borders made. I will finish this flimsy in time for the Schnibbles parade!

Full Steam Ahead - Scrap Basket Sunday

My scrappy version of Carrie,  Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.'s Vintage Schnibbles - Hat Trick - awaiting a full steam treatment from my trusty iron. The rows minus the setting triangles are sewn together. I may actually finish my little quilt in time to link up with the Schnibbles parade sponsored by Sinta of  Pink Pincushion and Sherri of A Quilting Life on May 1.

I am linking with Kim of Kim's Big Quilting Adventure for Scrap Basket Sunday. Come join us!

Scrap Basket Sunday - Week 3

Again an early Sunday post about my scraps. I doubt I will sew a thing today but I will be with you in spirit.

April has been a fun, if somewhat hectic month. My great nephew had a wonderful 2 year birthday party last Sunday. He loves balls/bars, cars/trucks/tractors, coloring books and Mickey Mouse. He got lots of presents. His new favorite phrase is -

"Chocolate Cake, Please!"

The newest family additional - Ben - came April 16, 2013 - 7 lbs 11 ozs. My niece had posted on Facebook early that Tuesday morning "Today is eviction day!" He is absolutely adorable. We love Ben!

My parents are still visiting. They are  RV camping at my sister's house. The upcoming week will be my great niece's 10th birthday - April 24, my mother's 80th birthday on April 27, and my nephew, his wife (who will be 30 something on April 28) and their 8 month old arrive next weekend.

My sewing time has been non-existent! I did find a few minutes each day to attempt organizing my scraps. This is sort of by size and only makes a small dent. I hope eventually to get to color? or some system ??? ........

I'm imaging a postage stamp quilt made from leaders and enders using these tiny 1" squares - one day!
Well I need to go get dressed. My sister and I are taking Mom shopping. We will have a grand day.

On last thing .... can anyone help poor Ms Cha Cha Cat? She's very disturbed. She seems to have lost her favorite (for the day!) pink mouse. If you can help she would appreciate it.
Where oh Where is My Pink Mouse?? Please help.
I'm linking up with Kim of  Kim's Big Quilting Adventure.
Enjoy your scraps today!

Catnip!

What's That I Smell
I Think Perhaps I Like This
Hmm ... This Brown Thing is Comfortable and Smells Heavenly
Catnip Induced Bliss! I'm Loving This!
Somewhere Between Heavenly Bliss and Blissful Insanity!
Disclaimer: No cat was harmed in the taking of these pictures.

Ms Cha Cha Cat got into the formerly frightening cat bed of her own accord. Catnip is VERY GOOD!

Scrap Basket Sunday - Week Two

What a hectic month April has been and April is not even half done for 2013. My pay the bills job is in high swing. The company is an equipment rental company for weddings/special events. The owners also decorate, coordinate, officiate, provide DJ services and planning assistance. November is wedding month in Panama City, FL followed closely by April. And, we have inflatables - bounce houses, slides, you name it. My brain is constantly challenged "switching gears" between the two!

I'm writing this early Saturday morning to post Sunday as my weekend is otherwise "mapped out!" My parents came down from Mississippi last Sunday. Our family celebrates lots of birthdays this time of year. My great niece turned 6 the end of March, her almost 2 brother has his party today, her sister will be double digits (10) later this month, followed by my mother's 80th and we are expecting a baby brother any minute - he has until Tuesday to make his appearance or the doctor is going to coax him into the world!

I did work in some sewing time this past week. I have all of the scrappy nine patch units for Hat Trick complete. Check out my progress -
My maternal grandmother was the Hat Lady. I have fond memories of her all decked out in her colorful hats for Sunday services.

I haven't abandoned my Country Charmer, which is also a scrappy project. All 20 blocks were completed a bit ago and I have the strips cut for the nine patch units and the sashing to tie the blocks all together. That is another post for another day.

Enjoy your scrappy Sunday!

My Friends!

What a wonderful day! Mom keeps finding my friends under furniture. So far I'm counting 10 friends who haven't been out to play in a few days.
My favorite (for today) is the one I am preparing to toss in the pictures. But horror or horrors! My best friend has run away again and he wasn't here to play with 2 minutes. Mom said "tough" - play with something else. Mom must have a split personality. She can be so nice one second and so mean the next.

Enjoy your weekend!

Second Scrap Basket Post

Two posts in one day?: Hmm...for a sporadic blogger like me that is something. But...I wanted to show you my progress on my Vintage Schnibbles - Hat Trick, which is also my Scrap Basket Sunday project.
The 4 green and 4 brown 9 patch blocks are done. That's all for me for today. My parents are arriving in a couple of hours so I've got to get busy with family stuff! Hope all of you are enjoying your Sunday.

Scrap Magic

I am linking up with Kim of Kim's Big Quilting Adventure for the kick-off of Scrap Basket Sunday. Here is what I have so far - scraps paired for 20 - 9 patch units. The amazing thing about scraps is they multiply like rabbits. I cut and cut yesterday only to wake up this morning to find I seem to have more scraps than I started with. Go figure!

For a couple of years I have watched from afar the Schnibbles quilt along sponsored by Sinta of Pink Pincushion and Sherri of A Quilting Life. Carrie Nelson's pattern Hat Trick (one of her Vintage Schnibbles) is the selection for this month. My scraps screamed this is what I want to be! And so a decision was made - by my scrap basket! - I'm joining two fun quilt-alongs using one amazing pattern. I do so love the Schnibbles designed by Carrie of La Vie en Rosie and Miss Rosie's Quilting Company. The little quilts are such fun to decorate with.

My parents are coming in from Mississippi some time this afternoon so sewing time will be limited. Maybe I will make a bit of progress this week to show you next Sunday. If you haven't already go link up with Kim for Scrap Basket Sunday. You know you have scraps! Hope to see you there.

April 1 Country Charmer Update

I do believe this picture has been on my blog before. hmmm..... My pay the bills work is in "crazy" season so it has been a week or so since I've looked at my sewing machine.

These are my 20 Country Charmer blocks (in no specific order). I have selected the sashing/nine patch fabrics which are awaiting the rotary cutter and some stitching.

I've been blog reading and have seen some outstanding, wonderful, fantastic, beautiful Country Charmers in various stages. You can catch the links to see all the beautifies here. Go check it out.
