A Start is a Start!

Plans are meant to be changed or a Start is a Start! I'm "planning" a medallion wall-hanging featuring the old Methodist Church at Rocky Springs (on the Natchez Trace). I intended to use the Church from Lynn Lister's America the Beautiful; however, I wanted the center to be larger and my attempts were not giving my the look of the real Church.

Here is a picture of my "blotched" door, Not only did I get the proportions incorrect, I am not pleased with the dark brown as the Church building. Something lighter would be more my style. And, the real Church is more rustic - simple shapes like squares and rectangles.

So I have decided to try my hand at recreating the Church. I am rather pleased with the look of the building graphed out. The steeple is still out to committee (lol!)

I'm thinking I will stitch the building together and then work on designing the steeple. I am planning on using the darker brown fabric for the window shutters. I am linking to Barbara at Cat Patches for the NewFO Challenge. She did say all I had to do was START.

Yay! That's right... no finishes required. I'll enjoy watching this one progress. Be sure to update us at a challenge later on!

And a fine start it is, Donna, a mighty glorious Start. Thanks for stopping by LyndaLand and commenting by way of Barb's FO party. Like you are doing with this church, I work free hand, not with patterns and love what I am doing at any given moment.

Happy May !~!
